Pneumatic Diaphragm Actuator

A Pneumatic Diaphragm Actuator converts compressed air into linear stem thrust through a flexible rubber diaphragm clamped between two cast shells. As instrument air pressure changes, the diaphragm pushes the output stem in a straight line against a return spring, producing a smooth, shock-free thrust that is nearly linear with input pressure. Two structural variants are available: the single-diaphragm build for general service and the double-diaphragm build for higher thrust where larger or higher-pressure control valves demand more driving force. Because the motion relies on diaphragm flexure rather than gears or pistons, the actuator runs without gear meshing noise and with very few wearing parts, which keeps maintenance simple. The diaphragm itself is a cloth-reinforced FKM (fluorine rubber) composite selected for oil resistance, aging resistance and long fatigue life in continuous modulating service. Direct-acting and reverse-acting configurations can be switched in the field without extra parts, and the unit mounts directly onto single-seat control valves, eccentric rotary plug valves and V-ball valves, accepting HEP, YT and smart valve positioners on the standard top flange. This is the dominant drive used on process control valves where continuous, proportional flow regulation, rather than simple on-off cycling, is required.

The diaphragm is a wearing component whose fatigue life and thrust curve directly decide how steadily a control valve modulates. We produce the cloth-reinforced composite diaphragm in-house rather than sourcing generic off-the-shelf diaphragms, and we build the actuator together with the matching control valve and positioner as one integrated set. For a buyer this means the diaphragm size and spring rate are selected against the actual valve stem force and travel, so the installed thrust curve matches the valve calculation sheet instead of being a generic actuator bolted onto an unknown valve.

Chemical modulating control valves

The linear, shock-free thrust is required where a valve must throttle flow in small, continuous increments rather than cycle open/closed; diaphragm flexure delivers the fine stem resolution that gear or piston drives do not.

Power plant steam control loops

With no gear train to wear out under long hours of near-continuous movement and an oil-resistant composite diaphragm, the unit keeps a stable thrust curve in hot mechanical-draft and feedwater service with low audible noise.

Pharmaceutical sterile fluid lines

The smooth, grease-light diaphragm drive and clean exterior suit aseptic purified water and dosing skids where oil mist, gear noise and maintenance frequency are restricted by GMP-style hygiene expectations.

Actuators are packed in standard export wooden cases with desiccant and protective end-cap covers on the air ports and stem. Before shipment we run stroke and air-tightness checks and send test videos, packing photos, a packing list and the full customs documentation with each order.
